Medical Board of Directors

Cookies for Kids’ Cancer has a medical advisory board consisting of some of the nations’ leading pediatric oncology professionals. They meet to review and evaluate each grant request using the same stringent criteria as the National Cancer Institute, allowing them to fund the best and most promising research that will help children as soon as possible.

Support of The Pediatric Early Phase-Clinical Trial Network

Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is the largest philanthropic supporter of PEP-CTN which, simply put, makes Phase I treatments available for more kids. They match dollar for dollar the funding the National Cancer Institute (NCI) provides for EVERY CHILD enrolled at the 42 participating core and non-core centers which are located across the country. For seven years of our funding, CFKC actually doubled the amount the NCI funds.

Quick to Fund

Wondering why private funding for pediatric cancer is so vital? Check out this video clip from Cookies for Kids’ Cancer: “We compare ourselves to venture capitalists – we hear about ideas that have promise and provide the seed money to get those projects moving forward as quickly as possible. Unlike the National Cancer Institute, Cookies (for Kids Cancer) is much more immediate. Once the National Cancer Institute approves a grant request it’s on average 2 years before the check is actually written. At Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, it’s only 45 days until the check is written.”
